Kippax Parish Council is proud to announce that we have approved a £25,000 grant towards a series of refurbishments at Kippax Leisure Centre.

KPC, alongside our Ward Councillors, local residents and Leisure Centre staff have worked to secure £175,000 in total, which will see the Leisure Centre undergo a fantastic makeover with refurbished changing rooms, redecoration, new signage and improved frontage this winter.

Works are set to begin in mid-December and are expected to be completed in early spring 2020, with disruption to Leisure Centre openings kept at a minimum.

Our Chair, Francis Kelly, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the improvements to Kippax Leisure Centre. The centre is an asset to both our local community and our surrounding villages, as evidenced by the regular feedback we receive and the Neighbourhood Plan that is in place.

“It has been great to work alongside our ward councillors, Leisure Centre staff and visitors and local villagers on these plans and we are passionate about ensuring these updates are just the first step in encouraging more people to enjoy the centre and live active, healthy lifestyles."

Our Ward Councillor, James Lewis (Labour, Kippax and Methley) said: “This is a welcome upgrade to our invaluable local leisure centre and guarantees the future for the centre for many years to come. What is special about this project is our close work with the Parish Council, the swimming club and local residents to increase the value of the scheme and make sure we are meeting local needs.”

“I look forward to seeing the finished improvements next year and I’m sure my fellow residents in and around Kippax will too. We will continue to work with local people in the future to work on the programme at the centre as well as promoting activities at centre to get more people involved and keeping fit.”

Kippax Parish Council are committed to improving the Leisure Centre beyond these initial refurbishments. If you have any feedback, ideas or suggestions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us!
